Any rental pre-ordered on our website requires the presentation of a credit card in the name of the driver indicated in the reservation.
Take care! it is customary to designate any credit card by the expression "credit card". However, such an abuse of language is wrong.
We will attempt to provide you with the necessary clarification on this key condition.
What is a credit card?
A credit card is a payment instrument to pay for any purchase on credit at the chosen bank.
This payment method differs from debit and prepaid debit cards which debit the amount of the purchase on the available balance of the associated account.
Why a credit card?
On the day of the taking over of the vehicle, we will ask you to deposit the deposit which will be used to cover the franchise, in case of deterioration or theft of the vehicle and its accessories. A simple impression is made on your card.
An international credit card is a safer method of payment than a debit or prepaid card, because it is a card that always says "yes", even if the account is not solvent.
Thus, to guarantee the payment in case of damage found at the return of the vehicle, requires an international credit card.
Note that no other method of payment will be accepted to guarantee your car rental: check, cash, holiday check, prepaid card.
How to recognize a credit card?
Since 9 June 2016, as part of the entry into force of European Regulation 2015/751, newly issued bank cards must mention the category to which they belong.
Four categories are defined: credit card, debit card, prepaid card or commercial card.
This category must be printed on the visible side of the credit card.
Remember to check that your card is marked "CREDIT".
If there is no mention on your credit card, please contact your bank and ask if it belongs to the category "CREDIT CARD", according to the classification defined by the European Regulation.
Warning ! The range of your credit card does not guarantee its membership in the category "CREDIT CARD". Thus, a VISA Premier / Infinite card can be a "DEBIT CARD", just like a VISA Classic card. The same goes for Mastercard (Gold / Platinum) payment cards.
I have a credit card: what to check?
a) Are you the main driver of this reservation?
b) Does your card allow international payments?
c) Is the authorized ceiling higher than the amount of the deposit and / or deductible specified on your prepaid rental voucher?
d) Is the expiry date of your international credit card at least 30 days longer than the scheduled return date?
If your answer is "yes" to all these questions, we congratulate you: your card is fully compliant with the requirements!
I do not have an international credit card with a sufficient ceiling: what solutions?
Usually, we offer options to buy back the franchise. With this type of insurance, you do not need a credit card. The full amount of the damages produced is taken care of. You travel with peace of mind. The only problem is the often dissuasive price of these insurances.
Here are some tips to avoid buying insurance:
a) You can register a companion with a credit card as the main driver and then choose to bring you additional driver.
b) You can ask your bank to edit a credit card in your name to receive before you leave.
I already have insurance covering the damage and theft of the rented vehicle ...
Note that depositing the deposit remains mandatory, even if you pre-arranged a deductible insurance.
The only exception to the payment of the deposit is the subscription of a total surrender insurance of the franchise.
Warning ! A repayment insurance of the franchise is absolutely invisible. It is only between you and the provider to whom the insurance has been taken out.
You therefore remain fully liable to our company for the total amount of the deductible, in case of damage or theft, during your rental.
